The ELLINGTON shirt-jacket is a study in versatility, balancing workwear references with a refined, tactile material. It is crafted from handwoven Khadi silk–cotton, prized for its soft, airy touch and subtle irregularities that reflect its artisanal origin. The deep grey base is hand-stamped in our studio with the “Obsidian Seal” motif in beige, giving the surface a quiet, expressive character.
Despite its structured inspiration, the fabric remains fluid and gentle on the skin, allowing the piece to move naturally with the body rather than holding a rigid shape. The silhouette is based on a relaxed square idea, reminiscent of a factory worker’s jacket, but softened through its drape and slightly tapered proportions — the hem is gently more narrow, so the shape does not read as a strict block, but rather as an eased, flowing square.
Designed for multiple ways of wearing, it can function as a light summer jacket layered over other garments or as a shirt worn directly on the skin. The piece features three front pockets and one inner pocket, a classic collar, and a five-button front closure, with additional buttons on the sleeves in the manner of a traditional shirt. It can be worn loose, tucked into trousers or skirts, or styled open for a more relaxed look across seasons.
